Less than one year away for the last Total Solar Eclipse to go across the continental United States until 2044. I captured an image last on Saturday April 8th (one year from the day) showing the cloud cover over the path of totality from Texas to Indiana. You would of had a tough time seeing totalit...

Bill Volna wrote an article about the Tardis for the June 1991 issue of Sky & Telescope magazine. Attached scans. The astronomy club mentioned in the article must have been a precursor to the Minnesota Astronomy Society. Probably not the 3M Club. I have some friends that were with Bill on the ou...

Re: Possible Observations of the Upcoming Artemis 1 Mission to the Moon

IF Artemis 1 launches at the beginning of the next launch window (this Saturday September 4th at 1:17 PM) there should be an excellent opportunity to search for the spacecraft on its way to the moon. It will be most opportune to search for it in the as close to the launch date if possible as it will...

The updated flight plan profile has 13 CubeSats being deployed from the upper stage, including a few after its closest approach to the moon. This implies the upper stage maintaining the ability to con...

Re: Saturn's Large Moon Titan Will Occult an 8th Magnitude Star July 9th

I tried to observe the occultation of 28 Sagittarii by Saturn on July 3, 1989 from Maple Grove. It was about 12:30 AM and Saturn was closing in on 5th magnitude star, 28 Sagittarii. It was a hazy night and thickening clouds were moving in from the west. By the time Saturn got to 28 Sagittarii the cl...

Bluer (higher color temp LEDs) have a harsher appearance. LED lights when used properly are fine. Just wish all the automakers could do it right so th...

Could be that once they found the star images in the mosaic, they moved each mirror one at a time and took a photo after each mirror movement to see which star image moved.
