I found a website that lets you watch the Apollo 17 in realtime. This is from launch to landing. It will even let you scroll ahead in the timeline to only watch what you want!

Well I go out behind my mom's place which is south of Forestview School. You still get some skyglow from town, but the view to the south is good. It isn't the easiest place to get to since you have to travel on an old road going back there, most vehicles could prbably get there as long as they aren'...

That's a nice program Nancy!
Now all they have to do is figure out how to get the Google Maps to show a street view along the lines so you can get a ground view of what the sun and moon will be coming up behind!

One thing is if it is a very humid day, there is a good chance the night will be a wet one. The only thing that I have noticed is if you can actually feel the humidity go down as the sun is, then there is a lesser chance of dew. If it feels humid after the sun starts down, get ready to get wet! Not ...

Well this isn't the best picture out there of the eclipse, but since I was standing on our deck trying not to freeze to bad and catch the moon before it went behind the trees, I think it gets the point across!!

You might want to ask around and see if you can find someone local that you can goto and that way you can get an idea on what you are going to see through a scope of different sizes. I will say that if you get one with a GOTO mount, it will keep the frustration level lower for the young one. Another...
