"We are pointing the telescope at a bright, isolated star (HD 84406) to capture a series of images that are then stitched together to form a picture of that part of the sky. We don’t have just one mirror looking at this star; we have 18 mirrors, each of which is initially tilted towards a diffe...

Since JWST is reported to be able to "look back in time", would it be this might represent the star cluster our sun was part of billions of years ago. The elongated disks of pre-planetary matter.

Aurora app?
Does anyone have a favorite app that will send an alert when aurora are predicted? My niece, who lives in Duluth, is looking for one.

As a matter of fact, when I select any tab or menu that relates to Permissions, I get the same blank screen. Is there a "Universal" setting somewhere that disables all Permissions or modifications to Permissions???

I'm resurrecting this thread to ask about some moderator assignments. This came up a while back too. Unfortunately, the same problem persists. When in the Admin page, I select the link to the Forum Moderators and it STILL just shows a blank web page. ( http://forums.mnastro.org/forums/adm/index.php...

Re: Potential Sightings of the Inspiration4 SpaceX Dragon Spacecraft for the Twin Cities
I saw it from Roseville. Looked just like the ISS going over. Mark I went out to take a look for this too and THOUGHT I had seen Inspiration, when in fact it was the ISS. The two spacecraft appeared in nearly the exact location within a couple minutes (predicted) of each other. The telltale sign wa...

My personal experience is that 90 percent of the time I use one eyepiece. There may be a time when sky conditions allow higher magnifications. Barlows are billed as a way to double the eyepiece magnification for the eyepieces you have, but personally I would rather just get the eyepiece with he magn...
