No room for new images?

Post by Dick Jacobson »

Last night I tried to attach an image to a post in the Telescope Making forum, topic "Rotating ring of eyepieces". I received the error message: "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached." Is anyone else having trouble posting images?

I check the settings for the Gallery MOD and I don't see any limitations there. About the only thing I can think of is that we have run out of space from the hosting company. I don't have the kind of access that would allow me to confirm if that is in fact the case. So whoever is now in charge of the website these days will have to see what's going on.

EDIT: I was able to delete around 100 images that were in the Gallery folder that had no entry in the database. These are photos that people have deleted from the Gallery in the past, but the original file on the server was never removed. This may open up some space, but this is obviously only a temporary solution. Someone will need to look in to the space issue. (If that is the problem we are having)

I read the original email wrong... I was thinking that you were talking about the Gallery.

We can increase the attachment limit. (It's currently set to 50mb) But I will leave that decision up to someone of authority around here.

I've had the same problem. Deleting a few of the attachments from my older posts fixed the problem. I don't believe I was anywhere near the 50 Mb limit, though. Maybe the limit is for the number of attachments?

There seems to be some problem with linking gallery images into our posts--the album tag seems to work sometimes, sometimes not. That's why I'm using attachments.

I just went ahead and increased the attachment limit to 75mb.

50 megabytes (.05 gigabyte) or even 75 seems like an absurdly low number. The little netbook that I bought a few months ago has a 250 GIGABYTE drive (5000 times as big as our attachment limit). Thanks for increasing the limit, I will try to re-post my attachment later.
