This gives me a SETI idea. If we get to the point where we can find rings around extra-solar planets, we should pay particular attention to the "geo"-stationary radius. If we see a ring there around a planet that seems potentially habitable, it could be evidence that somebody's home.

I guess I can't say for sure, but I think the distance there would be pretty small. Needle in a Haystack I suppose...but thats what they're looking for.

It seems as though for most exoplanets discovered so far the geosync orbit would intersect the host star.
