New Horizons will phone home at 8:05 CDT. Go to the Jackson Middle School Observatory Pluto-Palooza to watch it live!
Tuesday, July 14: 7 - 10 PM
For the first time in history, a spacecraft from Earth is visiting Pluto. Whether it’s a planet or dwarf planet, at nearly 4 billion miles away, that little rock, smaller than our moon, has always fascinated. Join us for a close-up look at that far away world. Coverage will begin early in the morning, as the New Horizons probe makes its closest pass to Pluto. At such a great distance, it will take over 4 HOURS for the signal from the probe to reach Earth. Later that night, as data is finally received, stop in to the open house at JMO to learn the latest as we unlock the mysteries of this distant outpost.

Re: Pluto-Palooza
A reporter from KARE 11 was there, so watch tonight or tomorrow night for a report. The Jackson Middle School Observatory is really impressive, with a 14" Meade SCT, a big dome, and classroom.
Thanks to Ron Schmit and Dave Falkner for organizing this event.

Re: Pluto-Palooza
Did not cover the Pluto-Palooza, but WCCO just ran a nice report featuring Ron. Will probably repeat at 10pm.
