The weather forecast is for clouds and rain at the Eagle Lake Observatory all day tomorrow.
Therefore the Mercury Transit star party at ELO will be CANCELLED.
Conditions to view the transit look better in northern Minnesota, so there may be a few MAS members heading north to clear skies.

Let's hope we have better luck in 2019

Much better skies than predicted but still hazy in Lakeville. I'll be at ELO at 9:30 hoping for the same or better.

I was thinking the same thing from what I'm seeing in Bloomington and the airport, but ELO was never an option for me as I have to work.

Same, I'm getting decent views from St. Cloud. I'd love to come down to ELO but I have a final exam at noon, for astronomy no less.

Any luck at ELO? I'm in Wayzata and it's cloudy.

Got some looks from my home in Minnetonka around 1000 local. I got some images, too, and have posted one on the Imaging SIG.

ELO had views of the transit early. Dave F was there at 5:45 (he didn't get the cancellation message). Good thing too for he was the only one I know of who got a picture from ELO. By the time I got there about 10:00 it was overcast. The last picture I took was about 9:12 from Burnsville.Mia_stellar wrote:Any luck at ELO? I'm in Wayzata and it's cloudy.
We did have several people come out. Dave had one or two early and I had a guy drive down from north of Duluth to see the observatory… ok, he was visiting family that lived a few miles away, but he did stop to pick my brain on choosing a telescope.

We lucked out at JJCasby yesterday for the transit. I opened the observatory at about 7:45am hoping for a view, and there was mostly good viewing to about 11:00am. Many of the Belwin and SPPS staff plus a school group were able to view the transit with the 130mm TMB and the Lunt solar scope.

That's great Jon. Looks like you got the Solar scope fixed just in time.jhayman wrote:We lucked out at JJCasby yesterday for the transit.
