The last few times I've tried to quote someone's message it just shows "[q u o t e]" in front of and at the end of the text instead of the nice box. For example, see the Virgo Venture - Coming up! thread in the MAS Star Parties and Events forum. It seems to be a problem for everyone in that thread, not just me.
In other places, it looks like it works right, especially if Merle does it

Testing it. Seems to work here. I had to put spaces in q u o t e to avoid confusion.

Thanks Clayton! I have never had issues before. I have always had it set to have my sig appear. It seems to only be on the MAS announcements forum. I will look into it again!

The problem is that certain forums have BBCode turned off. The quote feature is BBCode, and won't work when BBCode is off. You can tell when BBCode is on or off by looking in the area to the right of the box where you compose posts (frequently there are smilies there, just above where the BBCode status is listed).

That leaves the question, why?
Why is there a quote button in a forum that doesn't do quotes? Why is the BBCode feature turned off? I shouldn't have to look for smileys to tell if the quote will work.

I suspect that the quote button is global, either it's there for all or it's there for none. I seem to recall the formatting buttons being there even when BBCode is off, and given that they are on the same page as the status, you'd think they could turn off when BBCode is.
That leaves the question of why there are some forums with BBCode on and some with BBCode off. I have no answer to that, and agree that they should be consistent.
