The sky conditions look good. So Joan & I are probably heading to CGO tonight. Come on down if you have time.

Well, things are not looking as good as the forecast earlier today, especially sky clock. The enhanced IR loop from weather.unisys shows quite a lot of clouds. Also, there are some big storms in Kansas & Nebraska with blow off headed our way. I guess we are going to wait until 8:00 pm to make our decision. Or we might wait until 2916 when we will control weather and there will be no light pollution.

Around about 7pm last night, we checked radar and IR images. Unfortunately, we came to the wrong conclusion. We felt a bird in the binoculars was worth more than a slightly possible galaxy in an eyepiece. So, we went birding instead. One thing about bird watching, it can be done with cloudy skies. Plus we were only 2 miles away from it compared to 65 for Cherry Grove. In looking at the IR replay this morning, it appears the sky would have been ok. I won't say which night we are now targeting for fear of dooming it.

It's an interesting thought, how much will astronomy change in 900 years.
