NEW Message Board

Post by Jupiter »

As you can see, we have upgraded the message board to a new version. (phpbb3)

There are a lot of new features that the old board did not have... You can subscribe to forums, add attachments, send private messages to multiple users, add your real name (you can see mine on the left)... there are a bunch of new tings you will find here. So make sure you take the time to go in to your "User Control Panel" and check out all of the options.

Feel free to post your questions here or click the FAQ up on the right.

I hope to add more features when I get the chance.

MODS to be installed:
- antibot question on registration (COMPLETE)
- photo gallery (COMPLETE)
- live chat
- a sign up sheet (don't know if this is possible yet)

I will post some tips for phpBB3 to help people out....

REAL NAME:
On this board we have a mix of screen names and real names that people use as their username/identity... Some have asked if people could user their real name. So I have added a custom field in your control panel that allows you to add your real name to your profile if you wish.

This image shows you where to add your real name in your user control panel. (scroll down)

SUBSCRIBING:
On the old forum you could subscribe to a specific thread. On the new board you can subscribe to a forum. This is real handy if you want to know when something new is posted in the Marketplace. If you subscribed to that forum, you would get an email sent to you every time someone posts in there. Just scroll to the bottom of any forum and click subscribe. You can manage those subscriptions in your user control panel.

Agreed -- nicely done, Craig, Jon and anyone else responsible for the new forums, moving the site to the new host, etc. Wonderfully done!

can the top level of the message board be the firstest left? Most forums do except ours and it's really annoying because if I forget and click it anyways I get the mas main page instead of the forum index.

I had the same problem.

Scroll all of the way to the bottom. On the right you will see a link to delete the board cookies. Click that and you should be good to go. I actually did not notice that link until after I hunted down the actual cookie files and deleted them manually.

I'm having the same problem. All I see is the text area that says "Welcome..." No list of people in the room, and no area to enter text.

I'm using Flash version 10,0,22,87, IE 7.0.6001.18000, and Vista. It doesn't work under Firefox, either.

well, I can see where other people are putting text but nothing uder it like you showed, unless it's below the bottom of my screen, I've streached my browser as far as it will go but no luck. I tried my other browser, no go, but I'll try IE and opera just incase.

No go on IE, opera, and firefox.

I really have no idea what the problem is.... The window opens to 750 tall by 600 wide.

I have used the chat on an XP and Vista PC at home on IE7, IE8 and Firefox 2 & 3. I have also used it on MAC OSX with Safari and Firefox 2 & 3. I have never had any problems. So I really don't know what to tell you. Flash 10 should work fine too.
