Moon image links on weather pages

Post by Deane Clark »

This is the moon image today on the Baylor weather page. Looks like the links should be updated.

I know... None of the current website "Weather" pages have good links to the sun or moon. I have links for that info on the home page.

Again, as we get to these pages, the links and info will be updated.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention. If you find more let us (the web committee) know, at the very least it gives us an idea of higher priority pages to work on first.

Hmm, the sun image link still seems to work on the Baylor page.
The link they tell you to use in the above moon image seems OK. Note the beginning of that URL is now "api", not "aa" like the old one we have linked.

It shows an image of the sun, but it isn't a current image (compare to the link on the home page... or view through your telescope).

These are "works in progress". We'll get them fixed when I get a few minutes....

Resurrecting this thread because the moon image link on the weather page is broken again. Clicking on it gives a 404 Not Found error.

I recall seeing a Moon Phase mod for the message board a few weeks ago. So I installed it and you will see it in the upper right of the message board banner. It disappears once the site goes in to mobile size.

No links to anything. Nothing special. I just thought it would be a fun little add to the board.

Craig,

Do you have a link to the lunar image you used?

I do not... This is a script that automatically grabs the most recent moon phase off the internet somewhere. I am not sure how often it checks to update the phase. But I just thought it would be fun to add it.

Super cool, Craig!
I suspect the images used are probably rather small compared to the ones we previously had on the weather page. But, it's not like we need a moon map there I suppose.

Yes, I got the link fixed. The scale of the moon is smaller than the solar image from USNO, which is why I switched to StarDate website for an image. I think the problem was due to the StarDate website having a pop-up window on their site before the image would refresh, hence the "broken link"
