April Beginner's SIG Meeting

Post by mlfj4901 »

Greetings,

Yeah I know it's still March, but there's no harm in being prepared.

Paul Walker will be presenting "Star-hopping/Constellations" on April 18th at the Wentworth library in West Saint Paul. We have the room booked from 6:00 to 7:30, with Paul's presentation set to begin at 6:30.

Here is the web address:

http://www.co.dakota.mn.us/library/loca ... tworth.htm

That link will take you to a page with directions on getting to the library, a map, the libraries phone number, and if you're looking to redecorate you can print a photo of the library to hang above the mantle.

Greetings,

During the wonderful presentation by Paul Walker field of view of eyepieces, telescopes, finderscopes, etc. came up. Kirk Mona (who is presenting in May for the Beginners SIG) created a spreadsheet where you can plug in the various numbers for your scope and eyepiece to determine what the actual field of view is. Follow the link.

However, the whole thread was informative, you can link to it here.

Hope to see y'all, and more at the cookout and the next beginner's meeting.

Thanks for the credit Matt but I didn't create the spreadsheet I just found it online. If you follow the link you will go to the website of the guy who designed it.

It is a great tool though! It really helps you understand what your eyepieces can do and should help with star hopping as you'll get a good idea what your field of view is. It is also helpful as you compare potential eyepiece purchases.
