Sunspots today.

Post by wkocken »

I heard that there was a huge sunspot group so I got out my filtered binocs. I'm not much of a solar observer but I put these together in anticipation of the upcoming eclipse. Filters made from Baader film sandwiched between two wooden discs. Then I took strips of cardboard and wrapped them around the binos to make nice sturdy collars. The strips are layered and held together with hot glue. The collars are then hot glued to the discs. The collars are tight enough to stay on securely but they can be pulled off for regular use.
