Dec. B-SIG Presentation - Navigating Thru the Sky - Sat Dec. 15 -- 9:30-11:30am - Southdale Library (Ethel Berry Room)

Post by Sureshks »

Hi all,

The next B-SIG event is coming up on December 15th at 9:30am at Southdale Library (Ethel Berry Room).

Southdale Library: 7001 York Ave S, Edina, MN 55435

Ron Schmit will present "Navigating Thru the Sky".

Synopsis:

The night sky is a wondrous sight! Sitting back on a hilltop and just staring up... You can lose yourself in the immensity of it all. Getting to know your way around gives you a greater understanding as you begin to recognize the clock work of the cosmos. Join us on Saturday, December 15, to learn how to navigate your way through the sky. We'll start with orienting yourself to the horizon, and using a star map. You will learn how to move from one part of the sky to another, and some simple techniques to measure those movements. Recognizing certain constellations will help guide you to objects of interest in between the stars. Finally, you will learn the coordinate system of the sky, a skill which will allow you to find anything by simply using its celestial address. These simple techniques will take your explorations to the next level, and provide you with the ability to reach beyond what your eyes can see.

We hope you can join us!
