Greetings,
My wife keeps telling me we should move to Wenatchee, Washington....there's a lab job that's been posted for 3 months now. Anyway her latest "ploy" was to let me know they boast 300 days of sunshine a year.
Check out the sky clock! http://www.cleardarksky.com/c/CmssGrp1WAkey.html?1
I gotta tell you, I love Minnesota, but ater watching that sky clock for a couple of weeks, I'm beginning to think moving isn't such a bad idea....lol

Somewhere along the line I heard the reason there are so many amateur telescope makers in the Pacific Northwest is because of all the rain and clouds up there.
Later I heard someone else say that they did a comparison of our weather vs. the Pacific NW, and we actually have more cloudy days than they do.
Over the last few weeks - shucks, the last year - I'd believe it.
I wonder if Wenatchee is different because it's somehow in a geography that keeps it clear.

Eastern Washington is a near-desert because the Cascade Mountains wring all the moisture out of the coastal air. Roger Hanson, who we bought the 24" Big Dob from, lived on the coast (Oak Harbor, Wa.) and said that he never paid any attention at all to weather forecasts because the weather changed so quickly.
