Cord Wrap

Post by Scooter »

Ok guys I've been having a problem with my power cord coming unplugged. This happens when the mount is turning. I was wondering if anybody has any easy solution. I've got the Celestron SLT alt az computer mount.

I have a CPC and I have taken to wrapping it around the handle a couple of times before plugging it in the power socket of the mount.
You could try wrapping around the arm in a similar fashion.
You could always bring along painters tape and tape it in place....

On my NexStar there is a selection under Utilities or Settings where you can select Cord Wrap which ensures the mount will not go more than 360 degrees in one direction thus keeping cords from wrapping.

I use velcro to make sure there is proper slack in all my cords.

Cool. I did not know that you can turn off cord wrap. I'll have give that I try. I'll also try wrapping it around the kneck as well. Thanks for all the great ideas.

At the hardware store I got a few small rubber stoppers about the diameter of my little finger or smaller. Held them with a pliers, drilled a hole in the center about the size of the wires, then slit one side open with a knife. Put around the cable about 12 inches from the Mount-end of the cable, tightened in place with a small zip tie. Now it is super easy to use a Velcro strip to tie up the wire to keep a little slack loop. Same thing for the dew heater cables. (The auto-correct changed ‘dew heaters’ to ‘dew haters’. Guess that is also correct.)
