Skinny Moon

Post by Dave Olmstead »

What fun! I was able to see the young moon through my little Pronto from my deck tonight. My deck faces north so I was surprised to see the glowing sliver before it set in the WNW tonight. I have a Denk binoviewer on the Pronto and it was a delight to use for the first time.

Just had to share:-)

Greetings,

I'm working on the lunar cert, and was happy to catch the old moon in the new moon's arms. Due to the weather I missed the opposite one. Now I have to wait until next month.

That bright "star" just below the moon was Venus right?

now does it set a little sooner tonight...or is it later..I forget how that works. I've got a view to the north and west quite well.

The moon sets later tonight. That was Venus just below the moon, but it was below the trees when I was viewing last night.

it doesn't appear as if it will be good for the moon tonight anyways. I kinda like looking at sliver moons or really any that still have the shadow because of the extra detail you can see.
