CANCELLED -- March B-SIG Presentation - All About Deep Sky Objects

Post by Sureshks »

Hi all,

The next B-SIG presentation will be this Saturday March 14th at 1:30pm in the Meeting Room at the Edina Public Library.

Edina Public Library: 5280 Grandview Square, Edina, MN 55436

Please note that this is NOT the Southdale Library...

I will be presenting All About Deep Sky Objects.

Synopsis:

We will learn about the various kinds of deep sky objects, from the different types of nebulae and star clusters to far away galaxies and quasars. We will go thru the life cycle of the universe, from before a star is born, thru birth and the life of stars, and then finally to the end... and then from death comes rebirth. We will see many beautiful pictures of these mysterious objects, most of which were taken by MAS members.

As always, everyone is welcome to B-SIG events.

We hope you can join us!!

Hello everyone,

The MAS Leadership decided to cancel all large gatherings thru April, do to the coronavirus. Unfortunately, this also includes this Saturday's B-SIG and the first outdoor BSIG planned for April 11th.

Hopefully, we can all meet again soon!

Stay safe.

Suresh:

Any chance we could push this to an online presentation, maybe a Google Hangout? It would allow everyone to still see the content AND discuss and answer questions.

Participant limits of some tools we have available:

Regular Google Hangouts - 10 max
Regular Hangouts w/ G-Suite 25 max
New Google Meet w/ G-Suite 50 or 100 max . I have seen both mentioned but I think it's 100 now.

UberConference - MAS has an Account and I have one too, 100 users.

You can have live video.

Uberconference is a good alternative. Before retiring, my company used video conferences and bridges for meetings and training seminars extensively (and I am sure they still are, and most likely have ramped up their use). With so many businesses closed down and with voluntary isolation, we sure could use some diversions!

WebEx crashed yesterday due to the increased load!

Bummer. I checked. Zoom has been trucking along just fine, no issues. I assume that Uberconference, which MAS uses, is working as well.
