Since the ELO Great Conjunction event is so tremendously overbooked, I'd like to point out the Twin Cities Sidewalk Astronomy Meet-Up group has advertised a couple of events as well. See https://www.meetup.com/Twin-Cities-Side ... tronomers/

With the Governors lightening of restrictions we will go forward with the great conjunction star party. To accommodate everyone who registered for the event we will be splitting into the following groups for viewing.

Here's the important part... Since we will primarily be observing Jupiter and Saturn, we will have the following time slots for the registered groups to view through our scopes.
The observatory opens at 4:00 to get people signed in. To speed up the process, PLEASE have the waiver filled out and signed.

Each person will need to read and sign the liability waiver.

Everyone is to properly wear a mask at all times when at the observatory.

Group 1 - 4:30 to 5:15 (first 25 registered)
Group 2 - 5:15 to 6:00 (Wait List registrants)

After 6:00, those who would like can go through the observatory again and we'll allow walk-in guests (I'm anticipating we will have non-registered people arrive)

PLEASE arrive on time for your time slot

Group 1, the first 25 registered (adjusted for those not attending)
Eleanor Purdy - 2
Carrie Alkins 2
Adam Kline - 3
Joan Riley - 2
trevorlein - 4
Brady N - 1
Michael Kauper - 3
Bernie Simmons - 4
Pat Pekarek - 2
Mitch Thompson - 2

Group 2, Wait list registrants (adjusted for those not attending)
Hatice A. - 5
Maya. - 2
Sathish. - 3
Ross Owen and Tammy Livingston. - 2
WaltP - 2
Paulina (Withapham) - 2
John Anderson. - 2
Luis Wasserman - 3
Jason Greiner - 2
Howard Dodd. - 4

Note that you can still register for Group 2 (wait list). With the 45 minute time slots we could probably accommodate another group or a number of walk-ins after 6:00.

Any questions, post on this forum.

The latest registrants, Jason and Howard, will fill out the Group 2 - wait list.

Any others who register will be in Group 3, with admission at 6:00.

Again, each person will need to read and sign the liability waiver.

Everyone is to properly wear a mask at all times when at the observatory.

Thank you

I want to get everyone ample time to view the conjunction. Normally we would allow everyone to get to the observatory as soon as possible an line up behind the telescope platforms to view at their leisure. Unfortunately, we need to work within the covid restrictions and limitations. The solution that has worked is to limit to 25 guests for our events. Since we will be mainly viewing the conjunction (at least until 6:30) we are trying to break into several groups of 25 to allow more to view the event.

All that said, I don't know for sure how long Group 1 or Group 2 will be observing this one object before they will leave to provide space for additional guests to view. I would suggest that those in Group 2 and Group 3 arrive 30 minutes early, just in case space opens up earlier than expected.

Good afternoon,

I just recently discovered this group and would like to register myself and two others. If you need a name, my name is Gunnar. Three total for Gunnar if you wouldn't mind. We will come with the liability waivers signed and masks on! :)

Thank you.

Here's who I have for Group 3:

Nancy and David - 4
Stevec - 1
Gunnar - 3
Steven Stewart - 2
Karen McLainmiller - 2
Gary Phillips - 2
Vandana Gupta - 3
Megan Godin - 4

I would like all those in Group 3 to be at the observatory by 5:30 in case space opens up sooner than expected.

Also note we will not be having the classroom open, so if you need to warm up you will need to do that in your car. Sorry about this, but with so many people attending and covid restrictions, I don't feel comfortable opening the building.

Again, each person will need to read and sign the liability waiver.

Everyone is to properly wear a mask at all times when at the observatory.

Hello Merle,

I wanted to make sure you got my email from yesterday. I sadly am not able to attend today. We just found out my dog is sick and not sure how much time she has left. So I need to stay with her. I’m so sorry to cancel my 2 spots. Thank you, Eleanor Purdy
