Rovers Astronomy Weekend at LLCC - Aug 6-8th

Post by Sureshks »

Hi all,

With LLCC re-opening this summer to groups I am again coordinating an astronomy event for my outdoor club, the Minnesota Rovers. The dates are Aug. 6-8. This will be the first group to be at LLCC since pre-COVID.

We're looking for a few volunteers to bring their scopes and help out with the nighttime observing. I suspect that we'll have ~ 30-40 Rovers on this trip. During the day we'll be hiking, biking and paddling in the area... and of course, MAS members are invited to join in.

MAS members can stay for free at LLCC. There's a $10 registration fee by LLCC, which largely covers midnight snacks. Aside from that, you can purchase meals from LLCC, or just bring your own.

Let me know if you would be interested in helping out with this really fun event!

Hi Clayton,

If there are MAS members at LLCC that are not part of the Rover event we can just keep them south of the shed. David Schaaf has volunteered to run the 2 Obsession Dobs during this event. The rest of us, and the Rovers can stay north of the shed.

If you want to volunteer for the Rover trip let me know so I can add you to the trip roster. We are already near 25 people signed up. I'm not sure if we want to also post it on the Forum since you'll be really going as a member of the Rover group. Not sure exactly to handle that technicality.

Let’s not jump to any conclusions here, MAS people have 1st Preferences on the field. If you have questions please email me.
