Does anyone have a favorite app that will send an alert when aurora are predicted? My niece, who lives in Duluth, is looking for one.

Hi Merle,
I use Aurora Pro on Android. Works pretty well.
Another suggestion is that if she is on Facebook, to join the Great Lakes Aurora Hunters group.

Re: Aurora app?
I use one on iOS called Aurora Forecast. But you need to upgrade to the pro version to get alerts.
There is another called My Aurora Forecast that doesn’t seem to have alerts and is generally less useful.
There is a third one also called Aurora Forecast that I just downloaded and tried, but it seems to be a rather thin interface wrapped around the NOAA textual aurora forecast. However, it does seem to have alerts in the free version.
Finally, I have one called Space Weather Live that seems to have a lot of information and charts, but it’s hard to follow. It has “push alerts” for various things. For some reason it has two for auroras: CME impacts, and “Geomagnetic activity”, whatever that is.
Sorry, not much of a recommendation.
