Extreme new white dwarf star could affect measurement of Hubble constant

Post by Deane Clark »

This was published last August, but I only ran across it recently. In short, it appears some type Ia supernovas may be due to merging white dwarfs rather than accretion from a companion star. This could have an impact in the ongoing debate about the “real” value of the Hubble constant.
