Possible meteor storm, evening of May 30
I have just been reading about the possibility that the normally unimpressive Tau Herculids shower could produce a meteor storm on the night of May 30 right around midnight (~05:00 UT May 31). They won’t be very bright, but they will not be competing with the moon at least.

Is anyone planning to be at Eagle Lake or Cherry Creek for this possible event?

I will probably go to ELO if the weather forecast looks good.

Anyone planning to go out to ELO for this?
I would be interested if there are others interested.
Looks like the forecast is partly cloudy moving towards clear later.

I’m still planning on ELO if the forecast indicates some clearing for around midnight. But I’ll probably make the decision last-minute.

Clear Sky Chart has clearing around 10pm in CGO but with terrible seeing. I not sure how much seeing will be an issue with meteors. I suspect not that much. So will be watching for next model run before my final decision.

Operation Tau Herculids Snipe hunt underway. Will hopefully find good conditions when I arrive at CGO.

I’m at ELO now.
Clear except to the East.
Looks good.

At CGO still cloudy and windy. Hopefully it will clear soon but GEOS imagery makes me think ELO is the place to be.

I'd be curious if there is any meteors being seen at ELO.
Is there any tricks to accessing ELO this late at night?

Re: Possible meteor storm, evening of May 30
Saw at most 5-6 meteors before it started clouding up at ELO. The blowoff from storms to the south spread over us. Had six people show up. The meteors I saw were near the predicted time and were slow and medium brightness. One just blinked quickly without any transverse movement so must have been coming straight toward us. That was cool.
