National Geographic Monthly Issue - SPACE: Special Issue - October 2023

Post by petemn2004 »

Just picked up the October 2023 of National Geographic titled "SPACE Special Issue" at the bookstore.
Outstanding!!!

An entire issue devoted to recent developments.
Side binder says" Night Sky Poster, Back to the Moon, Origins of the Universe, Ocean Worlds"

It included a poster 20-inches by 31 inches.

On one side of the poster is a map of the "Heavens / Majesty of the Night Sky.". This is the best single map of the entire night sky I have ever seen. Names of many brighter stars, Messier objects (some with popular names) and brighter NGC objects. Includes examples of the many different types of astronomical objects, and the Greek Alphabet. Beautiful. Worthy of posting on a wall.

On the other side is a James Webb Space Telescope photo [NIRCam image] titled "Star Cradle" of the Pillars of Creation made famous by the Hubble Space Telescope. Also worthy of posting on a wall.

Table of Contents Page:

Up and Away
Focus: Black Holes
Time Travel to Ancient Galaxies
Light: Satellite Traffic
The Alien Moon Shot
Look: The Moon

Many articles including the James Webb Space Telescope and the past Artemis mission and future missions.
