Great story! What a beautiful scope.
I would have thought the MAS would be the natural choice to preserve, and put to good use, this historical item. Is this being considered?

Wow, what an impressive project! I'd love to try out that scope some time. Maybe some special MAS event could be arranged.

Thanks all!
Yes - the MAS is being considered. A committee is being put together to explore various options to house this instrument. If anyone has any thoughts, please post them here.
Also - please join us at the February MAS meeting - I will be discussing this restoration in more detail, along with other antique observatory instruments that I am restoring for the University of Minnesota Tate lab.
