December B-SIG Virtual Presentation -- Sat. Dec. 7th -- 1:00pm -- "Globular Clusters: Why They Are So Cool!"

Post by Sureshks »

Hi everyone,

Join us on Saturday December 7th at 1:00pm CT for the next virtual presentation of the MAS Beginner Special Interest Group event of the Fall/Winter season. Claire Weaverling will be presenting “Globular Clusters: What They Are So Cool!

Synopsis:

"December isn't exactly globular season. Yet winter is the perfect time to plan ahead on your observing projects. Hunting globulars can be a challenging but satisfying experience, with plenty of targets for beginners. If you imagine all globular clusters look alike - think again. There is visual variety to be found. And scientific surveys of globular clusters have revealed fascinating insights into the history and composition of these gems of our night sky!

To join the virtual event, Click this Zoom link:

Meeting ID: 879 0609 3973
Passcode: 575343

We will open up this link about 10 minutes before the event starts.

Claire is one of the most prolific visual observers in the MAS. She started with the Cedar Rapids Astronomy Club many years ago, a club her father co-founded. These days you can usually find her at Cherry Grove Observatory with her 18" Dobsonian telescope, working diligently on an Astronomical League observing program.

We hope you can join us!!
