Lunar Observing Assignment 3

Post by Kirk »

Welcome back. Glad to see you are keeping up.

Remember to post the results of your observing here so everyone can enjoy your successes and frustrations. We can't help eachother if no one talks about their observing!

This is the third assignment for the beginner's SIG online completion of the Lunar Observing certificate. I moved to a new house and life got a little crazy this past month which explains the delay. You all should have had some extra time to knock off assignments one and two. If you are just joining us you'll want to check out the last 2 assignments posted earlier so you can catch up. It isn't too late!

This month we will start to look at a few medium sized features of the moon. You will need binoculars though a telescope will also work at this point. In fact, a telescope will make exploring these features all the more interesting.

If you do not have a telescope don't worry. Binoculars will be good enough for now. When we get to the part that requires a telescope, people working on the list can meet up at star parties to work on the list together.

There are seven objects this month. Either consult a basic map of the moon or follow the links I have provided with each object.

Congratulations! If you've found these relatively easy objects you are already 1/4 of the way done with the Lunar Certificate!
