BSIG Presentation -- Fall Observing Targets -- Sat. Nov. 17th -- 1:00-3:00pm -- Hopkins Public Library

Post by Sureshks »

Hi everyone,

The first B-SIG presentation of the Fall/Winter is coming up this Saturday Nov. 17th at the Hopkins Public Library from 1:00-3:00pm.

Dave Falkner will be presenting "Fall Observing Targets". Dave will go thru some of the best objects for viewing this time of year, what they are, and how to find them.

Synopsis:

Dave will begin his tour of the Fall sky by pointing out a few constellations and asterisms that will guide us to objects in the night sky. He'll point out objects to see with the unaided eye such as planets, the Pleiades star cluster and where to see the Andromeda galaxy, the farthest object we can see with the unaided eye. He will then move to easy binocular objects like the Double Cluster, the Coathanger asterism and even a comet! Finally he will show you a few objects that are easy to find with a small telescope such as open clusters and globular clusters. With sunrise later every day during the Fall he'll also point out a couple of easy objects to find in the early morning sky.

Hopkins Public Library: 22 11th Ave. N Hopkins, MN 55343

We will be in the Meeting Room.

We hope to see you there!
