"Living in the age of Airplanes" at Science Museum

Post by merle »

Saw "Living in the age of Airplanes" at the Science Museum last night and thought I'd put a plug in for it. Going in, I was expecting a program on the 100 plus year history of the airplane, but it was more a history lesson on how the age of aircraft travel has affected humanity. I think anyone who gets on a plane should see this, especially those that close the window shade and sleep during the entire flight. I am, and always have been, awestruck at the views of the earth from an airplane.

I just returned from a Thanksgiving trip to my sister Mary's home in Raleigh, NC. My first day there we drove to Kitty Hawk to see the Wright Brothers Memorial. To be able to stand on the ground where controlled, powered flight on this planet happened left me humbled to be there and awed by what's been accomplished since.
