I saw an announcement this week of a new discovery of a Super Nova in M77.
I was intrigued. SO I made use of my investment in one half of the recently opened Shed of Science South at Stellar Skies in Texas.
Thursday night was clear, seeing was average or so. I acquired just over 80 minutes of data of M77 to see if I could capture the "NEW" super nova. Enclosed is a extremely cropped screen shot from Pixinsight.
The following is a side by side screenshot of an image I found on Flickr.
The follow image is a wider image a little less processed.
I think it is there but I am interest to know if YOU can see the same thing? This galaxy with this super nova is only 47 MILLION light years from Earth. Please share your thoughts.
The data was collected using a ZWO 1600 MM Cooled camera through a StellarVue 152 refractor.
Clear skies,
Mark

Wow, that’s pretty close to the core.
