Does the New Posts feature work?
I don’t think Marketplace posts are showing up when I use Quick links/New posts.

Yes, I think there's an issue too. I haven't seen a Marketplace ad come thru the New Posts in weeks... yet's there's several in that Forum.
Thanks for pointing that out Deanne!

Clayton’s latest post in Marketplace shows up under New Posts. But, as an example, I never saw anything about Mark Connoly’s 12” Dob that he gave away.

today, the post for 11x80 University Optics Binoculars from 1980s popped right to the top of my new/unread list...

Re: Does the New Posts feature work for Marketplace?
It is I believe tied to you session time stamp. It displays posts that are only later than your last visit time as displayed near the top of the start page. My theory Deane did not see the post as he logged in after the post was made. His login resetting his visit time. If you log out and login the quick link for recent post will be empty. Not what you would expect I guess . I think we would all probably prefer It list new posts we have not read. But not sure that is the way it was designed.
I login with the "remember me" option checked so this does not update the last visit time stamp until the session expires. This makes the quick link fairly useful.
Note the forum icons turn red when there are unread posts inside.
May dig into this more when I have time its probably more complex.

Re: Does the New Posts feature work for Marketplace?
I always use “Keep me logged in” or “Remember me” whichever it’s called.
I would expect to see a list of all new posts since the last time I logged in, or if using Remember me, the last time I reloaded the forums. I don’t see where there is a hole that some new post would fall into.
And, by the way, I did not receive an email notice of Steve’s new comment today. I checked my junk mail too.

Re: Does the New Posts feature work for Marketplace?
Ok, so maybe here’s a hole -
If I go look at each thread with a new post, my list of new posts does NOT go away. It keeps the same entries during my session, plus anything I posted in the session gets added. Does this mean that there is some timeout after a certain period of inactivity? After that inactivity the new posts list gets regenerated? And, is it possible that a post that happens during my session does NOT get added (even though my own DID)? At the very least, it seems inconsistent.

If you are using Internet Explorer; go into Internet Settings, on the General tab click the Settings box down in Browsing History. On the Temporary Internet Files tab make sure the top radio button is selected. This will make IE look for new content of the website when it is loaded (Even if the "Keep me logged in" box is checked) but will also make the pages load slower.. But, at least you will see newer content.

Re: Does the New Posts feature work for Marketplace?
I just logged on and saw one new post listed. It was in the ELO Keyholders forum. Then I noticed a new post in Marketplace under the topic “miscellaneous”. This post did not show up under New posts.

Re: Does the New Posts feature work for Marketplace?
Here’s an annoying one:
At least for the Railing Project Update thread in ELO Discussions, if there is a new post and you access the thread via the “New posts” menu, if you click the thread title, it takes you to the first page of 8, not the page with the new post (the last one,
. You have to click the little box with 8 in it to get to the page with the new post.

Re: Does the New Posts feature work?
I was about to complain about this again as Jerry’s two posts about the 4M from Tuesday never showed up in my New posts list.
The moral of the story is don’t depend on this feature. It doesn’t work.
