Presenters Needed for Winter B-SIG

Post by Sureshks »

Hi all,

The MAS Beginners group needs a few more speakers for our Fall/Winter calendar (December thru March).

Presentations typically run about two hours, with time for Q&A after. Topics can include anything that beginners would find useful. In the past members have presented on celestial mechanics, landscape and prime focus imaging, observing targets, what's coming up, telescope designs...

If you'd like to help out with a presentation, please respond here and we can discuss.

Thanks in advance!

Hi peeps,

I just thought I re-forward this note.

We still need speakers for the December, January, February and March B-SIG meetings.

The topic, location and time is largely up to you!!

We ask that the topic be something that beginner amateur astronomers would be interested in. Past topics have included beginner imaging, observing topics, what's coming up in the sky, understanding celestial mechanics and learning about telescopes...

Presentations typically run about two hours in length, and we typically average 30-40 attendees.

So help our newbies learn more about astronomy!!!

Drop me a note here or PM me to get it started... :D

Thanks in advance!

Hi Suresh,

I'm happy to do a presentation. I was thinking of doing my "Celestial Mechanics and the Sun/Moon/Earth Relationship" presentation. I include a handout of terminology used in astronomy as part of the presentation. It's been a couple of years since I last gave it and I think the newbies really appreciated it. I would prefer December or January but I'm open to any of the dates.
Clear skies!

Hi Dave,

Thanks for stepping up again!

Another member contacted me this morning. I'm thinking that his intended topic might overlap yours a bit. Let's get the 3 of us together offline to figure that out.

December or January should be fine. I'm targeting Sat. Dec. 14th for the December B-SIG date.

Let me know if that'll work for you.
