Is anyone else having problems...

... with viewing avatar images? For some reason, I can't see them now. I didn't change any settings on my computer or in my profile. I can't see the images on my work computer either. ??

Hi Jackie,

They went away at the same time as the Photo Album (see the first sticky thread), but did not come back when the album did. It is not your computer!

Best Regards,
Kurt

I will take a look at it later... For some reason I can't log on to the website file server from work right now. I'm guessing there is a permission issue or the folder was overwritten. Something along those lines.

According to the message board software. Everything is set correctly.

My Avatar works because it is linked to another website.

Well.... The Avatars folder was overwritten.... I was only able to recover some of the uploaded avatars. If yours is missing, you will need to re-upload it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The hosting company decided to upgrade our message board software on their own. When they did the standard upgrade, the Album dissapeared and the Avatars folder was overwritten. They may have also messed up something else that has not been discovered yet....

In the future I will try to upgrade as soon as possible to prevent them for messing up the board.

Avatars

Now that we may need to upload new avatars, can I humbly suggest using actual pictures of ourselves as avatars? It's kind of nice to see what people look like. Of course, if you're concerned with security, or avoiding the FBI or are just shy  , that's OK, too.
Bill

P.S. I tried to upload my avatar but got an error message. It seems that it's still not working yet.

I tried uploading an avatar from my computer; didn't work. I uploaded an offsite link to an avatar that did work.

I'd like to "second" Bill's comment (now you don't need to be quite so humble, Bill!) There are a lot of members whose names I know but faces are unknown because I haven't seen them at a monthly meeting and maybe only met them in the dark at a star party!

Now I've got to follow my own advice and find a halfway decent picture of myself (that's the hard part...)

I'm gonna stick with the little bouncing blue guy for now. None of my pictures of myself are small enough to be avatars.

Probably a permissions issue.... I will check it out when I get home tonight.

It was a permissions issue.... I think the problem is fixed now.

It does, indeed, seem to be fixed!
