Basically, you can download MP3s for your listening pleasure, and you can then upload them to your iPod or other MP3 player. You can also subscribe to a podcast (like via iTunes, which is a free download) and as podcasts are added, you'll automatically get the new ones.

I subscribe to Slacker Astronomy. Very entertaining.

Podcasts have been "in the news" a lot lately since a lot of mainstreamers have jumped onboard (Rush Limbaugh and the like) and Itunes have given podcasts a prominent place in their software.

Slacker Astro has two shows. I've been listening to both. The 1st is on a specific topic each week. They have a very "twisted" way of sharing good information. The other is more free-form. It was this one that prompted me to write the original message yesterday. Their interview with Phil Plait of Bad Astronomy and his rants and raves about Tom Cruise, Scientology, and War of the Worlds almost made me drive my car off the side of the road laughing.

Yes, the Slacker Astronomy podcasts are presented with a lot of humor. I don't actually have an iPod, but I do listen to them on my computer at home.

Also Science Friday which sometimes has interesting astronomy (as opposed to non astronomy but science related) topics is available as a podcast http://www.sciencefriday.com/audio/

I love scifri but, always miss the live broadcast because I am at work.
