Bell Museum Statewide Star Party needs Globe at Night Observations

Post by clayton »

The Bell has a 500 observation challenge for Minnesota observations submitted to Globe at Night for this week. Only one needed per member and we can help them reach the goal.

You can read about the Globe at Night https://www.globeatnight.org

or

Just enter an observation here https://www.globeatnight.org/webapp/

Looks Easy enough some help if needed https://www.globeatnight.org/webapp/

Important remember to add add in the comments "Minnesota Statewide Star Party" to have it counted. I would Add "MAS Member" to share our Participation and Affiliation.

This is a real easy activity. I did mine tonight from my observatory. I used the Loss of the Night App. I found the app was fairly intuitive, I did not read the tutorial and I completed my observation in about 5 minutes

Go out and observe, it was not a perfectly clear night but good enough to accomplish the task. My limiting magnitude was reported to be greater than 5 plus or minus 1.6 which I agree with since I had to make observation toward the east where the is a huge light dome from the city of Buffalo and then to the west where I can't see any light domes.

Great project.
