I know many in the hobby found this book to be outstanding. Terence Dickinson is releasing an all new version this fall.

This was, and is still, my favorite book for Beginners to intermediate. I learned so much from his first edition when I was new to the hobby. I even stole his description (I think he coined the phrase!) of many of us amateurs which is still how I describe myself: Recreational Astronomer!

There is information of value to long timers as well, and I am sure there is more in this 4th edition. I can't see how anyone would be disappointed reading this book.

Kurt

PS: No, I don't get any kickbacks for this! :-)

I like to use the “recreational astronomer” title too, but I didn’t get it from the book. I heard Kurt say it once at ELO. :)
