Eisenhower hands on Tour

Post by mlfj4901 »

Greetings,

Well last spring Ron Schmit promised we could head back to the Eisenhower Observatory in Hopkins this fall, and we now have a date scheduled.

Wednesday November 2nd 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Eisenhower Community Center
1001 Highway 7
Hopkins, MN 55305

Meet in Room 329, right below the observatory.

The web address is: http://www.hopkins.k12.mn.us/pages/dist ... bserv.html

Space is limited to the first 10 people as we want to ensure everyone has a chance to observe with the scope. This is a Beginner's only event. We in the BSIG love having experts around to answer questions, but with limited space we really must insist on beginner's only. We do however understand that you can be a member of the MAS for decades and still retain beginner's status, so we'll leave it up to you to decide if you're a beginner or not.

So what should you expect on this "hands on tour"? The tour of the observatory itself is rather short, the majority of the time will be spent with the scope. In Ron's own words: : " ...that'swhat this class is about: getting some real hands-on."

To sign up post here, email me, pm me, stop by my house and wag your chin, whatever, but do it before the event fills up.

Greetings,

Since I talked to Ron last I've already had two people sign up! This event is already 20% full in the first night of posting!

Um, Matt? Are you one of the two? If not, and you're planning to attend, you're at 30%...

Greetings,

Well only four people made it, Mark Saltzman, myself, my wife, and my daughter. All in all it was quite fun, although it would've been more enjoyable had the clouds not rolled in.

Look forward to doing this again in the future, a big thanks to Ron Schmit for hosting this again.
