Volunteers Needed for Oct. 14th Partial Eclipse Watch at Como Planetarium

Post by Sureshks »

Hi all,

My friend Sarah Weaver is a teacher at the Como Planetarium in St. Paul. She sent me a note today asking for volunteers to come help at their watch party for the Saturday October 14th partial solar eclipse. Here are the details...

We are gathering people on October 14th from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to see what we can see of the partial annular eclipse. We will stream footage from other places in the US with better views and have short planetarium programs. In addition, we will have a few of our scopes out for people to look through. If MAS is interested in bringing a scope or two and/or having a MAS info table, that would be welcome!

Como Planetarium is located at 780 W Wheelock Pkwy #1315, St Paul, MN 55117. It is just west of Dale St. within Como Park.

People who are interested in volunteering for this event can reach Sarah at sarah.weaver@spps.org

I believe peak coverage here in MSP will be around 57% for this partial eclipse. Obviously, please always have solar protective gear on your scopes and binoculars at all times!!
