WANTED: Baader solar filter film

Post by kibatme »

I've got a Meade ETX-125, and, 11x80 and 10x50 binoculars all needing solar filters for the upcoming eclipse. Anyone have a supply of Baader film you're willing to sell for this project? And, if not, any recommendations for bulk suppliers of the material?

Hi Mike,

For all Baader products, go straight to Alpine Astro, their distributor in the US.

For most products, MAS members get an 8% discount and free shipping. I don't remember the minimum purchase that qualifies to get the discount, but remind Bob Luffel over at Alpine, and he'll let you know the details on that.

Best,

Suresh

Thousand Oaks Optical has 8x8 sheet of solar film for about $20. Orange. Works great for me. I clamp it in an embroidery hoop and tape it to whatever. Unless, of course, you are looking for a nice one that fits. I use this for camera lenses.
