Curious to know what filters you recommend

Post by Starforce2 »

I know I need an OIII, but what is a good brand? Meade? Or are they pretty much all the same? Same applies to a light polution filter. (what objects do these work well against?)

Also thinging about color filters for planets, and a variable moon filter, and a new focuser for my XT10. The one on it seems to be pretty good but I wouldn't mind a fine adjustment knob. Any recommendations? I know there's one on ebay that I think seels for around 60 bucks that has 3 gear tracks on the shaft rather than on like my stock one has. I assume thats better?

One of the major 'zines did a nice comparison of the different filters last year. I think it was Sky & Telescope, but I'll check for certaina nd let you know which one and which issue. Surprisingly, there were some significant performance differences noted.
