Orbit your own satellite

Post by ripple »

Here's a little program created in Java that allows you to launch your own satellites. There's no instructions, but the best way to do launch one is click and drag your mouse in the direction you want your satellite to travel.

Takes a little practice, but fun for a cloudy night.

Yea, me too. I had one going in a figure 8 pattern around the moon and earth, but it didn't last too long. Crashed right into the moon.

I seem to have achieved a somewhat stable orbit. It goes from nearly circular to somewhat comet like elongated orbit. hasn't cccrashed for several min...I'll leave it run for a while lol.

Dang, that moon sure makes it difficult to get something stable...

I had one going for about an hr or so then I checked and it was gone, so it either crashed or it has a time limit.

I got one to go for about 15 minutes in a highly eccentric but stable "earth" orbit, and then realized how silly it was to have been watching it for that long.
