This Friday we will be having a field trip to the JJ Casby Observatory located at the Belwin Conservancy. Details on finding the observatory can be found at http://www.mnastro.org/facilities/jjc/. We will open the gate at 7 PM to give folks plenty of time to set up their telescopes.
The plans are to do some location of celestial objects through star-hopping as well as showing the constellations and major stars to begin learning the sky. You are certainly welcome to bring a telescope and Nancy and I will be there to help you, if needed. We will also have the observatory telescope operating for those who haven't had the opportunity to look through a truly magnificent instrument.
Parking is limited at Belwin. There is a small parking lot by the Belwin Education Center near the observatory which we will be using as an unloading/loading area. We will want folks to then move their cars to the larger parking area about 100 yards down from the Belwin Education Center. I will be there to help direct people.
So far the long range forecast looks favorable. However, keep an eye on the MAS home page and/or the B-SIG forum for updates as Friday approaches. If for some reason the field trip is cancelled we will hold a meeting at the Maplewood Library on Saturday, April 18th at 10:30. This is only if the field trip is cancelled.
Clear skies!

Re: B-SIG Field Trip April 17th
What an awesome night. Clear skies, company of experts (David and Nancy) and a chance to witness 4 moons of Jupiter along with a transition and finally the galaxies M81 and M82. Could not have asked for a better start. Looking forward to the B-SIG field trip to MAS Cherry Grove Observatory
