LLCC This Weekend

Post by Sureshks »

Is anyone planning to head up to LLCC this weekend?

At this point the weather is iffy, but that could change...

I just wanted to gauge interest.

I am interested in going. I could go on either Friday or Saturday night, depending on which one has better weather.

At this point it looks like both Friday and Saturday may have decent weather at LLCC. I am planning on going up on Saturday. Is anyone else planning to be there, and if so, what time do you usually arrive?

Checked seven different forecasts for tonight and they are all over the place, ranging from clear or mostly clear all night (Clear Sky Chart) to starting with 30% clouds at sunset and going up to 70% clouds at 1am (National Weather Service). Most say probability of thunderstorms; they just vary on when the storms arrive. Using the linked map feature on Clear Sky Chart show cirrus clouds/haze around LLCC even though it says clear.

Saturday is more promising, but I'll wait until tonight or tomorrow morning to decide.

Scott, I usually like to get up there a couple of hours before sunset for a relaxed setup while there is still light. When heading up Friday, I may go earlier to miss some of the afternoon congestion on the highways heading North.

Hopeful for Saturday!

I was just advised that there is another group on campus tonight. LLCC apologizes for not informing us earlier. The new pathway lights will be on instead of the bright floods. Call me for info on the red filters to cover the lights.

Forecasts are split again tonight, but the majority say mostly clear. None report storms for tonight.

One grandson and I are heading up!

It is pretty windy up in McGregor today. Nice and clear. The wind will keep mosquitoes down.

Yes, it is windy right now at LLCC. So far we have Shane, my grandson Cole and myself setup under mostly clear skies.

Temperature is just right!

Not at all Scott; you were very careful about light leakage. It was a pleasure to see you there. See my report in the Observing Log at viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7986 .
