Getting started in imaging

Hi Beginners,

The moon and planets (at least the bigger and closer ones) are lit by the sun just like the earth is. This means that photographic exposure settings for them is about the same as you would use for a sunny day here on earth.

Which means....

It is possible to aim your camera into the eyepiece of your telescope and take snapshots of the moon. For an example of this, I refer you to our photo album (click on "Photo Album" at the top of this page).

At the bottom of the photo album page are two shots taken by Russ Durkee using the very techniques as described above.

You might want to give this a try.
