June B-SIG - DATE CHANGE -- 8pm Saturday June 3rd

Hi everyone,

What a great event we had a few weeks ago at the May B-SIG observing session!!

We counted about 30 cars, at least 50 people, and perhaps 20 telescopes of all makes and sizes set up for everyone to use and peruse.

We had nagging clouds early in the evening, but the clouds parted by 11pm. The remaining stragglers enjoyed some good views of deep sky objects, Jupiter and Saturn!

I decided to move up the June B-SIG observing session a week to Saturday June 3rd. I did so to get a less dominant Moon in our sky. It will be 71% lit on June 3rd, versus 99% on June 10th. If people stay want to stay late that night, Moonlight will pose less of a problem.

As always, I'll keep an eye on the weather, and will post the Go/No-Go on Thursday late afternoon. If Friday June 2nd looks better, I may have to switch it to that evening. Otherwise, we'll go with Saturday night 6/03, starting at 8pm!!

I hope this change doesn't inconvenience anyone. I hope ya'll can make it!!

P.S. If you're able to -- Bring treats/beverages to share. That was a real hit during the May B-SIG.

Hello everyone,

Based on the most recent weather forecasts, this Saturday night's B-SIG observing session at Metcalf is a GO!!!!

The forecast calls for mostly clear skies, and a low temp of 65F. Sounds perfect...

A note: Indian Trail is under some construction. It is hard packed dirt for most of it, with scattered gravel patches. Wasn't too bad last night, plus the grass has been cut but not raked up, looked like it was long in some areas.

_Will the outhouse door be fixed by saturday?

I found the instruction manual for the 12.5 NGT telescope on-line at JMI and it is not too many pages. There is also a page on collimating.
Did you ever get the printed version?
If you like, I can print them out and bring it to B-SIG Saturday night.
