Greetings,
Wondering if someone attending the Beginner's cookout/picnic could give me a hand collimating my 8" dob on Saturday. I cleaned the mirrors, but now I have no idea how to get the thing collimated.
I can collimate the BAD, but I can't collimate my own scope....sad sad sad.

Greetings,
6 years old, the guy I bought it from never collimated it. It was shipped twice, once by Orion, once by the ebay seller. I've been up and down stairs with it, banged it around a bit ( I just popped a dent out from someone falling on it).......And it was still almost dead on!
The mirrors were so cruddy you could see where the condensation water had run off the primary...the same tell tale signs of water on Mars were on my primary. The secondary was so grimy it was almost gritty. I was very very careful when washing it, it soaked for quite awhile before I attempted any dirt removal.
The mirrors do look smashing now.. maybe smashing is the wrong word for mirrors..lol I did foget however....and I feel really foolish about this...to mark the center of the primary while it was out.
Anyway if someone who knows a bit about collimating a skyquest dob could help me out I would be very appreciative on Saturday.
